Wakefield Poole's Boys In The Sand.
Remember the porn of days gone by? Beyond the grainy film and thundering bass lines, some more elusive qualities have also disappeared. This year, Kreuzberg’s beloved porn buffet offers its share of retrospective material, including Wakefield Poole’s 1971 classic gay hardcore flick Boys in the Sand (Oct 24, 19:00, photo). The ballet dancer-turned director displays a grace and beauty that is hard to find in pornography. He’s also the subject of doco Dirty Poole (Oct 26, 17:30 and Oct 27, 12:45).
Other hard-to-find classics include The Devil in Miss Jones (Oct 26, 19:15) and El Paso Wrecking Corp (Oct 27, 23:30).
Festival favourite Todd Verow returns with his indie death-wish movie The Endless Possibility of Sky (Oct 26, 15:15 and Oct 27, 17:45). Der große, vergängliche Haut-Film (Oct 25, 19:15 and Oct 28, 10:45) asks whether film can truly capture intimacy, not just sex, complementary to the “Intimacy on Screen“ workshop.
For those who have swallowed as much porn as they can, Angela Tucker’s documentary (A)sexual (Oct 25, 17:00 and Oct 27, 11:15) follows people with zero sex drive.
The big after-party happens at Comet Club (Oct 27, 23:00). Bring your tassels and top hat for the Amateur Burlesque Contest, but leave your modesty at home.
