1907-1908 Construction of Friedrichstraßepassagen, Europe’s largest indoor shopping arcade.

1920s The building houses a showroom exhibiting the latest AEG electrical gadgets.

1930s-1940s Used as Nazi meeting rooms, SS headquarters, and cells for French POWs.

1990 Two months before planned demolition, Künstlerinitative Tacheles occupies the half-ruined remains of the building.

1998 Berlin authorities sell the property to the Fundus Group.

2008 Rental contract expires.

2010 Kunsthaus Tacheles e.V. goes bankrupt.

2011 Forced auction of property scheduled for April 4.
