In the latest Save Berlin news: Mitte’s ever embattled non-squat Schokoladen is holding it’s 2^nd annual Winterhoffest and Xmas Market, which will be doubling as a benefit concert to help defray the costs of their landlord attempting to do what he likes with his property. Which would be, of course, to culturally denigrate the city. It’s Berlin: nobody wins.

But, as it’s Berlin: everyone performs! And they’re looking for artists and musicians to take part. That’s a good 94% of the city, perhaps more when you don’t consider the guys who are supposed to clean up the stray dogshit around here employed. The details, straight from the horse’s inbox:

Hey calling all Friends, Musicians, Artists and Lovely Listeners and Press..

 Its time again for the Schokoladen e.V. to get together with all of our amigos and supporters  of the Schokoladen Collective over the years and put together Round 2 of our now Annual  Winterhoffest & Weihnachtsmarkt.  It will take place this year on Saturday the 19th and Sunday  the 20th of December.  The Fundraiser Concert organized by M:Soundtrack on Sunday the 20th will  help us financially in our fight against that “Scrooge” Landlord Friedrichs and in addition a solidarity shout out platform dedicated to our and ALL threatened alternative cultural  spaces in Berlin.  We look forward to bringing you a great alternative X-mas and a night of Berlin’s finest…Please read below and forward to all friends, musicians & hand and home-made artists and thanks for your support!

So we are looking/ making a call for 2 things:

1) Interested artists that would like to perform short sets on Sunday evening in Schokoladen or on 19-20 day time in our “Window stage in the Schokohof” artists will be given food and drink tickets.

2) Artists, craftsman, food vendors, etc., that would like to sell there wares, products, art in our lovely Schoko Hof. We will have a fair price stand of 20 euros and be building roofs for stands or the stands will  be under our shed in the Hof. As well, the Schokoladen will be open during the day for a chance to warm up, toilets, chill out, soup etc..

*The Concerts will take place on Sunday evening in Schokoladen. The entire entry and all proceeds raised through sales made through the Schoko stands will be put in our  “Kampfkasse” all workers of Schokoladen will also be working for free for the two days. 

*The Market Stands: All participants will only be asked to pay the stand fee, all earned proceeds will be yours. We do hope that most of you will be staying on for the two days please specify that in our form. I will send the form to fill out when you have noted interest.
