gay football films

Not to state the bleedin obvious but gay football films are unlikely to resonate with either football fans (assuming the number of openly gay footballers is a good indication) or gay people (ditto. Plus its cold, boring and they're all badly dressed). So that may explain their abscence.

While we're on the subj, I don't think you can claim 'Escape to Victory" has camp value. It isn't enough that it be shit, it needs to be shit and yet somehow fabulous as well. Like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark is and football isn't.

And more fashion tips. Go on like this and you will soon the Gok Wan of the football blogging world. Don't say you weren't warned.

My favourite football film is that Channel 4 one about Graham Taylor. It's really Partridge-esque.

i wouldnt botherwith bend it, mate really. hooowever youre on to something there... a gritty northern musical, brian glover as bastard graddad, young gay son just wants to wear white boots and an alice band, alison steadman as the nice gran who ends up managing the first gay team in the working pits conference (northern league) etc etc etc. Chuck in a couple of knees up's and its a winner....

Still haven't watched

Bend it like Beckham.

Surely somebody has to make a gay football film, like that one about that kid who lived in a council house from the mid-90s, and his mum went thieving for him, and in the end she accepted he was gay, but about footballers.
