Liebe Exberliner readers,
Starting now, hold this space for all the interviews, reviews, think-pieces and gossip from the Super Bowl of German theatre, coming at you live and in English, that you can handle. You may know me already as Lily Kelting, editor of Exberliner's stage section. But now I couldn't be more excited to spend 16 malnourished days in the Theatertreffen Blog HQ and nights hunched over a notebook in the audience. If you see me, come say hi (yes, I actually am a two-dimensional pencil sketch).
On Friday, May 6, Theatertreffen officially kicks off – more than two weeks of plays and lectures and readings through May 22. Here are just a few things for you to know. The 10 main productions are chosen by an independent jury of critics as the year's "most noteworthy." But that's just the core of the festival: there's also five juried Stückemarkt performances and readings of hot-off-the-presses international work, and lectures and workshops at the Berliner Festspielhaus CAMP providing context and conversation. It’s impossible to see everything. I asked. But it’s not going to stop me from trying. And that's why you should watch this space.
Mit theatralischen Grüße,
