Part of the CineStar complex in the Sony Center, this IMAX has almost 600 square metres of screen - the biggest in Germany - and special liquid-crystal 3-D glasses that look like they were taken from Darth Vader's helmet.

They are a bit cumbersome, but the quality of the visuals is frighteningly realistic (think of a mega-shark jumping out of the seat in front of you). Not for the faint of heart, especially when combined with the chest-vibrating 25,000 watt digital sound system. The programme consists mainly of spectacular nature and history documentaries, though regular cinema releases have started to come out for the IMAX, but only the dubbed German versions are shown here. Also, the snack stand offers some non-traditional cinema fare like the fresh coffee and muffin combo.
