A love triangle evolves into a coming-of-age journey between life and death, heart and vigour, war and peace, family tradition and self-realisation, the remembered and the forgotten. This multi-layered narrative thread is enacted by digitised wooden marionettes, coloured with Mexican folk elements and embellished by reinterpreted pop music. The result is an astonishing animated film which combines Hollywood visual effects and wildly imaginative narrative talents from the south, as well as a continuously unfolding spectacle for all age groups.
