Enter the Void
While visually appealing and undeniably intriguing, Noé’s penchant for shock visuals once again trumps any desire for a real narrative, and if there is a message in there, it’s moralistic at best.
Noé’s last film was much more daring in terms of narrative style – this one just looks like an expensive screensaver half of the time. It’s engrossing enough, but ultimately fails to deliver; if you do see it, be prepared to be “poked”.
ENTER THE VOID | Directed by Gaspar Noé (France 2010) with Nathaniel Brown, Paz de la Huerta. Opens in Berlin cinemas on August 26.
