Law gives it his all as shouty lout Dom ‘Emingway, fresh out of chokey to raise hell and (rather as an afterthought) reconnect with his estranged daughter, but his vacillations from foul-mouthed bravado to maudlin repentance render him a charmless guest. The rambling narrative and shaky soundtrack make this less like an adventure with him than a pub hostage situation where he has control of the jukebox, while Grant is reduced to well-dressed lackey snickering in the corner (albeit with some good lines).
Dom Hemingway | Directed by Richard Shepard (UK 2013) with Jude Law, Richard E.Grant and Emilia Clarke. Starts April 17
