Bent Hamer’s Home for Christmas is the worst kind of Christmas kitsch. This simply cannot be the same man who made Kitchen Stories, Factotum and O’ Horten, each a viable candidate on a cineaste’s ‘Top Ten Scandinavian Films’ list. No, we choose instead to believe that Home for Christmas is actually a very clever horror film about an alien kitsch-monster that has hijacked Bent Hamer’s being and is making films under his name.

Home for Christmas | Directed by Bent Hamer (Norway 2010), with Nina Andresen Borud and Joachim Calmeyer. Opens December 2. Norwegian.
