Lass bagged a swathe of awards for his debut feature; a darkly romantic comedy of errors involving masseur Clemens being thrust into an eccentric cohort of employees at an exclusive Ostsee resort. There, his naïveté is seized upon by Lara, an obnoxiously endearing chef on a tightrope of self-destruction and alcoholism. Unfortunately frantic dialogue and Dogme-esque camera work lose their freshness along the way, ditto the dramatically hip soundtrack, but strong performances and moments of wry humour triumph over at least some of the clichés.
