A forged- out-of-necessity alliance between British airmen and pilots of the Third Reich seems like too good a pairing to be true for dramatic purposes. But it is true: two pilots’ crews did shoot each other down in the dead of the frigid Norwegian winter and manage to find refuge in a shared cabin in brutal conditions. And they did have to reconcile differences that were not all too different in the end to survive. But although the story is unlikely, its predictable execution means that this film never really heats up.
