There's one response the thrill-seekers are going to have after seeing the newest instalment of Bryan Singer's immensely popular X-Men series, X-Men: Apocalypse. Wheeeeeeeeeee! And after all, that's what a comic book adaption should do, right? While Singer has made good use of X-Men's arsenal of 20th- and 21st-century allegories in past franchise episodes, Apocalypse doesn't lay down the metaphor as hard and instead goes for the (literal) attack. It may not be as heavy as Days of Future Past, but the momentum isn't lost. And the hints at a possible future Cyclops/Jean Grey story arc lay some exciting groundwork.
