The Neue Nationalgalerie is that giant see-through building standing in the open land just off Potsdamer Platz. You know, the disused-looking one. The architect, probably a genius, decided to hide all the art exhibitions in the cellar, and leave the ground floor as an open plan area for the cloakrooms. There are some artworks standing around apologetically in this open area too, but they are mainly decoration for the cloakrooms.

This is part of the German National Gallery. Open since 1968, it is a museum for classical modern art in Berlin, with its main focus on the early 20th century. Particularly well represented are Cubism, Expressionism, Bauhaus and Surrealism. The collection owns masterpieces of Pablo Picasso, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Joan Miró, Wassily Kandinsky and Barnett Newman.
