After travelling extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, the British documentary photographer Edward Longmire has turned his lens to Cuba, one of the last bastions of socialism. From Havana to Villa Clara and Santiago de Cuba, via Cienfuegos, Guantanamo, and Sancti Spiritus, Longmire has captured - in a cinematic rather than a journalistic way - Cuba’s gradual move towards a more open society. His bustling urban scenes and hauntingly empty landscapes reveal the island’s magic and mythology, its vibrant culture and rich traditions. |
