Sound art, installation, and performance collide in this ‘durational’ exhibition. Starting off with a base of layered and repeated recordings of drum sounds and room tones, the piece pays homage to the 1960s works of composer Alvin Lucier. Over the course of two days, the two performers add to this foundation, recording and playing back sound on two drums, giving the installation an energy that is alternately active and contemplative. The recordings slowly increase in volume and intensity, gradually creating a precise, delicate structure of quite tangible rhythmic fragments, acoustic traces, and feedback tones. Through Nov 7.
