Mexico's colonial history makes the question "What does it mean to be Mexican?" incredibly hard to answer. In Haus der Kulturen der Welt's second "Labor Berlin" exhibition, Mexico City-born artist Erick Meyenberg uses sound and light installations to criticize ethnological attempts to neatly classify race. He uses the LED colors red, green and blue as stand-ins for the country's three "races" (indigenous, black and white); illuminated at the same time and with the same intensity, they result in a mixed color - white. Through October 24.
