Over 92 public and private museums and cultural centers will take part in the summer edition of the "Long Night of the Museums", staying open until 2am and hosting live music, performances and special exhibitions. This year's event celebrates eight Latin American countries 200th year of independence with a special show, Latin American music and catering at the Rote Rathaus (Rathausstraße 15, Mitte, near Alexanderplatz), and related film screenings and exhibitions at secondary locations. The event is also coordinated with the 10th Lange Nacht der Synagogen: six synagogues will also stay open late, hosting exhibitions about the history of Judaism in Berlin and the intersection of Judaism and Islam, among other themes. During the Lange Nacht der Museen, information about all the various happenings can be obtained in the Lustgarten (in front of the Altes Museum), and tickets can be purchased in advance online, as well as from BVG automats.
