A key member of the first (pre-Wall) Leipzig School of painting, Ebersbach is a living and breathing part of art history. With his latest exhibition, his abstract expressionist paintings expand from the walls out into the room. His works are contrived of a dance of paintbrush gesticulation, and in some cases the product of a literal walk across the canvas with painted feet. The paint sits on the canvas, physically pulling the viewer into the work. Especially breathtaking are his small-format paintings – simply heavenly.
