The New York-based Korean artist Jong Oh uses mundane, everyday material such as thread, sticks and Plexiglas to redefine minimalistic art anew. In his site-specific installations, he manages to create a magical energy, effortlessly approaching and responding to various spatial situations. Pieces change (and even seem to disappear!) depending on the angle from which you view them. This show is a milestone for minimalist art in Berlin, an early exhibition for an artist who will write his own chapter in art history. There has been nothing like this in Berlin for ages – it goes without saying that it shouldn’t be missed.
