Some of us don't need an excuse to play with our food, but for everyone else, there's Masticate, a series of dining experiences aimed at the refined palate, and at every one of your senses. Diners will be encouraged to disrupt acceptable social behaviours as the line between food and art is blurred. Monochrom, the first instalment, is an all plant-based five course meal with a colourless concept designed to heighten the senses by favouring form and texture over hue.
The masterminds behind this synaesthetic flavour experiment are interior architect Jacinta Lawani and raw food chef Lucy Locket. First inspired in their respective grandmother's kitchens, their passion for exploring new places and flavours has since expanded the artists' palates... and palettes.
In addition to the monochromatic menu, taste fermented cacao bean chocolate from Belyzium and enjoy a commissioned welcome cocktail mixed by Alchemist Gin artisan Marcus O'Shea. The spirits continue to flow with wine by Vipaya. Live audio, kinetic, and visual elements in the form of photography, sculpture, dance, film, and music will overload your senses as you masticate the night away.
