Ferdinand von Schirach is one of Germany’s most prominent defense attorneys. He’s also authored lauded short story collections and a bestselling book about industrialist-turned-Nazi officer Hans Meyer. Now he’s penned his first stage play, about an aeroplane hijacked by terrorists on its way from Berlin to Munich. The terrorists are aiming the plane at the Allianz Arena – where 70,000 fans have gathered for a football match between England and Germany. It’s up to a fighter jet pilot to decide whether to shoot down the passenger plane, and a few weeks later, he must defend himself before a civilian court.
