Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour isn’t allowed to leave his country. Since he refused to do military service, he’s not allowed to travel. But his works can. And his play for one performer is on stage each night, sealed in an envelope that the actor opens and reads for the first time during the performance. If the actor has no time to prepare, then the writer’s voice gains an unusual strength. Produced around the world since 2011, the play has received rave reviews for its direct approach to the mechanics of theatre. Featuring five different actors, including Gob Squad’s Sean Patten.
