Not sure where to eat out tonight? We decided to call up a few of our favourite Berliners to find out where they love to eat. Celebrity hairstylist Udo Walz, Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick, electronic musician Emika and Bear City Roller Derby co-founder Molly "Master Blaster" share their favourite local restaurants. Choices include gourmet roast beef, vegetarian Italian fare, German-Czech cuisine and exclusive wine.
My favourite restaurant is Grill Royal. I love the service and I know the owners well. My favourite menu starts off with scampies or a fennel salad, followed by Kobe beef with sweet potato fries, Béarnaise sauce, and beans for the main dish. For dessert I have raspberry and mango sorbet. And to drink, usually Ruinart Rosé and sparkling water.
I love to going to see chef Mareno Carusi at Centolire, a small Italian restaurant in the shadows of the mall on Leipziger Straße. Moreno is friendly, an excellent cook and a total Berlinale freak. As a vegetarian, I naturally choose something from his tasty pasta selection. It’s great, especially on Sunday when it's not as crowded. A welcoming place for fans of Italy, and for lovers with desire for the south. Bravo Moreno!

Fleischerei Domke serves up East German versions of traditional Czech food, and the best beer in Berlin. Almost as good as drinking beer in Prague. My favourite dish is the Svíčková, a typical Czech meal (sirloin with vegetables).

One of my favorite restaurants is actually a wine bar with amazingly paired dishes: Facciola. They personally select Italian wineries which produce a limited number of bottles each year and then arrange for meats, cheeses and olives from those regions to compliment them, creating real taste experiences. The mood is friendly, young, and fresh, with lots of events that leave you drowning in incredible wines and local artists.
