The Zoologisher Garten is Germany's oldest zoo and still boasts the most diverse range of animal species in the world. The hippos at the Zoo are displayed in a great split-level glass-domed house, so you can see them under and above water. There is a similar display for King penguins and the underwater activity delights children. The panda bears are a star attraction drawing a ooh’s and ahh’s from all observers. The zoo also houses the country's most treasured celebrity: Knut is no longer a tumbling baby polar bear, but he still draws in the crowds. At the Streichelzoo kids can run around after farmyard animals (watch the fingers) and there is a Spielplatz to jump around on. Different feeding times throughout the day allow you to see everything from Knut and friends having brunch to the pelicans gobbling up fish at in the afternoon and once the animal fun is done you can head over to the aquarium just next door. |
