Computerspielemuseum – where Pac Man lives
The world's very first video and computer game museum was founded right here in Berlin. Here you can embark on an exciting journey through 60 years of the cultural history of video games. It is all about humans being playful (historically "Homo Ludens") and about the invention of the digital game mid 20th century. Visitors can learn and explore how technology, creativity and gaming have been melding into one since then and how today's virtual-real world developed – all this with rare originals, interactive works of art and classics to try out. Here everyone becomes a "Homo Ludens Digitalis" and gets to experience how games changed our culture.
Fascinating exhibition architecture transformed the former East Berlin Kultcafé Warschau, which is protected as a historic monument, into a pixelated gaming playground. There also is a museum shop with over 100 iconic articles all about gaming.
The Computerspielemuseum lies in the heart of Europe's biggest cultural relic – the Karl-Marx-Allee. Here you are surrounded by history-charged architecture, culture and everyday life to explore.
