We’re not talking the milquetoast multimillion-dollar-industry AVN Awards – the PornFilmFestival Berlin keeps it alt and arty, featuring groundbreaking directors, such as Courtney Trouble and Bruce LaBruce. Both will be showcased again this year in a collection of shorts entitled Fucking Different XXX (Oct 27, 18:15).
The festival is chock-full of documentaries like Todd Verow’s low-budget, high-concept Bottom X (Oct 28, 20:00), exploring the controversial topic of barebacking in gay sex. Verow himself will be there to discuss the film.
Go East and get rosy with the ‘pink film’ craze that’s spreading in cinema circles. Japan’s Blind Love (Oct 27, 21:45) is part softcore porno, part screwball romantic comedy. Japan also offers The Family Complete (Oct 28, 18:00), an over-the-top exploration of incest – with Grandpa.
And for those who don’t think porn and romance go together, don’t miss the opening film, Man at Bath (Oct 26, 20:00), a French exploration of sex and tenderness starring porn sensation François Sagat (photo), the muse of the moment in gay porn, who’s also the subject of the documentary Sagat (Oct 27, 19:45).
And the closing party offers live stimulation for a big-bang ending. All films are shown in original language with English subtitles.
