This month’s Wednesday Night at Kaffee Burger features a pairing of garage fuzz and post-punk riot grrrl rally mixed with synth tones.

This month’s EXBERLINER Wednesdays at the legendary Kaffee Burger feature a pair of acts fond of prowling the limelight of the darkest night, rummaging through your recycling for guitars and the occasional discarded rat.

Jimmy Trash and the Gunpowder Temple of Heaven, featuring Australian journalist Jimmy Trash and beatnik DJ Mohair Sam, operate in the sort of hollowed-out cultural garbage can much loved by Berlin since the 1980s, throwing up garage fuzz and decades worth of noise-ridden mondo culture into a rockabilly-deprived world. Their hair is fabulous.

That said, glaring-lady duo Kool Thing (photo) gives the Trashmen’s tonsures a run for their money with a Youth more Cicconic than Sonic. Layered harmonies, distorted washes of guitar, driving beats and psychedelic synth tones mingle in a post-punk riot grrrl rally, though one with downcast eyes.

As always, EXBERLINER'S DJ Shiner spins kiddie-Schlager afterward, deep into the daylight.
