Festival overkill continues! This time on the stages. Tanzfabrik’s annual Herbst Festival combines performances and workshops from locals and international guests in one two-week extravaganza. Starts Sep 23. Summer Banks

Since its founding over 30 years ago, Tanzfabrik has established itself as the vanguard for the development and showcasing of new work from independent choreographers in Berlin.

While the work is sometimes incomprehensible and raw, the multi-venue organization offers patrons the opportunity to discover tomorrow’s superstar choreographers before they’re snapped up by the larger, more established arts institutions.

Tanzfabrik’s venues also highlight Berlin’s shifting arts scene, with one set of spaces near the Bergmannkiez in Kreuzberg and their new Uferstudios in old industrial buildings along the banks of the Panke River in Wedding.

Tanzfabrik’s annual Herbst Festival, held entirely at their Wedding venue this year, combines performances and workshops from locals and international guests in one two-week extravaganza.

Attending every event would provide an overview of what’s happening in the international contemporary performance scene, but it’s probably best to pick and choose in order to prevent dance audience paralysis.

    Highlights include:

    Sep 26-27, 20:30 Isabelle Schad’s Musik (Praticable)

Sep 27-28, 20:30 South African choreographer Sello Pesa’s Time of the Small Berries

Sep 29-30, 20:30 ONAIR productions is also restaging their theater multimedia performance Unbound Episodes 1Why is it so dark? The version they presented last year lacked overall clarity but still created some striking and powerful images and scenes.
