All aboard, film aficionados: the the ongoing Magical History Tour offers a choice selection of art-house faves, from French New Wave through Dogme 95. Karen Sofie Egebo

Whether films without dialogue like Jean Cocteau’s Le Sang d’un Poète (The Blood of a Poet, Feb 1 and 10, 19:30) or daring Nouvelle Vague like François Truffaut’s Baisers Volés (Stolen Kisses, Feb 6 and 8, 19:30, with English subs), all Magical History Tour films break free from convention and steer things in a new direction.

    The Danish Festen (The Celebration, Feb 5, 19:30 with German subs), directed by Thomas Vinterberg, was the first film made under the rules of the Dogme manifesto – handheld camera, no additional lighting and no music.

    Also shown is the American documentary film On The Bowery (Feb 24, 19:30 and 28, 21:15, OV), in which director Lionel Rogosin takes you to post-WWII New York when the Bowery was an area where unemployment raged and alcoholism had a tight grasp on the people living under the elevated trains.

    Subtitles are German and English. February 1-28
