Nola’s

Despite the charming vicinity of the Weinberg Park, the lively Nola is not really the perfect spot for a romantic date. It is nonetheless a pleasant laidback brasserie sporting Swiss colours (and spelling!) and attractive food.

Despite the charming vicinity of the Weinberg Park, the lively Nola is not really the perfect spot for a romantic date. It is nonetheless a pleasant laidback brasserie sporting Swiss colours (and spelling!) and attractive food. The choice of starters is limited, but so appealing that it is agony to choose one over the other. The Süässäs Säuli (dried prunes, wrapped in bacon and served with salad, €6) is delicious and the Tomatä Epbeer chilisuppä (spicy tomato strawberry soup, served with peanuts, €5 are all delectable, provided you like the combination of sweet and salty. If so, follow up with the risotto (served with fillet of chicken, basil and balsamic onions – €10.50). If your taste buds need a break from sweetness, try the Rindssteak (fillet of beef served with herb butter and baked potatoes with herb sour cream or salad, €17.50) – now, loll back and unhitch your belt a notch.

Have a sweet tooth? Nola’s will win you over with scrumptious deserts, such as the creamy American lime cheesecake or the perfectly textured Swiss chocolate mousse (€5). Overall Nola can boast a casual but friendly atmosphere and creative food. The only real disappointment was the miserable open wine – both the red and rosé were awful – try beer or a bottle from their wine collection instead. For fussy nonsmokers and other smoke-free adepts, Nola’s has a non-smoking room.
