As Europe’s largest student film festival, Sehsüchte annually offers up the best of young, imminent filmmakers. With over 100 films, panel discussions and master classes, the Potsdam-Babelsberg fest gives aspiring directors and screenwriters, not to mention fans, the chance to consort with the masters.

    Feature films include Western Movie (Apr 27, 22:00) of eastern origin, as south Korean youth try their hands at the time-honoured traditions of gun slinging, meetings at dusk and quick draws.

    Germany’s Dicke Mädchen (photo, Apr 27, 22:00) depicts a mother’s battle with dementia and her son’s unexpected reaction to the deteriorating disease.

    With hundreds of young film students meeting at the film-and-TV sanctuary of the University Konrad Wolf in Babelsberg, this year’s 41st edition is sure to nurture not only young minds but also audience spirits.

    The international fest offers English subtitles to non-English original versions.
