Do you like this?

This newest foray into sci-fi is not the first for Niccol, who directed semi-duds Gattaca and S1m0ne within his less-than-15-year career. And he continues a fine tradition. With a concept that could have been pulled straight out of Philip K. Dick (we can call it Dick-light), there’s potential for a winner. But with no Dick, comes no soul. Timberlake and even Seyfried are fine, but the plot and dialogue don’t make any attempt at mining the philosophical prospects of the story (only the vague economic ones), leaving us with a stale thriller.

In Time (In Time – Deine Zeit läuft ab) | Directed by Andrew Niccol (USA 2011) with Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy. Starts December 1
