Do you like this?

A fleeting guest appearance by Woody Allen does little to confer much-needed originality on this Parisian rom-com in which Allen-obsessed film-buff Alice (Taglioni) hands out movies along with medication in her pharmacy whilst meddling in various domestic crises in her own family. Is her brother-in-law having an affair? Is her mother drinking? Will burly security system installer Victor (Bruel) win her intellectualising heart? What was the maestro thinking, lending himself to this shallow rip-off of (some of) his favourite themes?

Paris-Manhattan | Directed by Sophie Lellouche (France 2012) with Alice Taglioni, Patrick Bruel, Marine Delterme. Starts October 4
