There’s only so much you can do with a film based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks whose main character is called Logan. As a former US Marine in search of the beauty behind the photo he believes saved his life in Iraq (yelp!), Zac Efron plays it straight. But his work is ambushed by a gushy Taylor Shilling – the object of his yearnings. Filmed in Louisiana for extra steaminess, the scenery is occasionally distracting but fails to make up for the utter predictableness of what’s going on within it.
