After its emergence from the project Gallery Amerika, Klemm’s Galerie established itself on Brunnenstraße in 2005, paving the way for the area to become a hotbed of Berlin art activity… after which gallerist Sebastian Klemm began to set his sights further south.
At the end of 2012, Klemm closed the Mitte location and on March 16, the gallery will finally christen its new home on Prinzessinnenstraße with a group exhibition featuring a selection of works from its programme artists.
Although the gallery’s initial focus weighed heavily on photography and sculpture, Klemm’s has recently expanded its offerings to include an exquisite selection of paintings from artists such as Bernard Piffaretti, whose work debates the ever increasing flow of images, the question of what meaning formal decisions take and the paradox of discarding something in order to resurrect it.
A selection of his newer works will be showcased at the re-opening show, next to sculpture and photography by older programme artists such as Sven Johne.
