Roughtown
Aiming to provide a forum for creativity and innovation, the Berlin Short Film Festival attracts its customary wide range of material from genres and formats with about 100 films of up to 50 minutes in length, including music vids and documentaries.
Opening on October 25 with a party (9:30pm ‘til late) at AG Foundation/Griffin Bar on Invalidenstraße, DJ Task gets things spinning on the jazz turntable before events start in earnest as the first of ten blocks of showings begins on October 26 at 6pm at Babylon Mitte.
From Gabriele Heberling’s female take on Walter Mittyesque dreams of grandeur and bravery in Roughtown (October 28, 19:30 see image) the festival shorts spin the world with submissions from the US as John Heath (producer Chicago Hope) presents Mama doesn’t know Best (October 28, 6pm) or the francophone world in Alain Deymier’s Les Papillons Noirs (October 29 at 7:30pm) and ending with things that go bang in the night and an evening of horror shorts on October 31.
