MAGASIN SOUVENIR In a nutshell: Sexy souvenirs from hot names. Price range: €20-1000 Dying to own your own Anselm Reyle, but still can’t seem to afford the full-sized model? This special boutique features specially crafted ‘souvenir’ pieces from Reyle and other well-known artists. Owners Karin Oender and David Mallon curate a regularly changing selection of functional artworks, so that you’ll be sure to always stumble onto something new when you go there, like temporary tattoos from Marc Brandenburg or coffee mugs from Dirk Bell, to name just a few. RE:SURGO! In a nutshell: New Leipziger school meets California cool. Price range: €3-3000 Christian Gfeller and Anna Hellsgård turned the front space of their silkscreen workshop into a showroom for prints, catalogues, notebooks and even records, all limited edition and mostly printed there on location. The catalogues boast a variety of amazing craftsmanship, coming out of the artist pair’s collaborations with other international printmakers. For about €65, you can get an amazingly juicy A3-sized silkscreen print with up to eight different colours (they’ll even frame it for you for an additional cost). PIGASUS In a nutshell: Posters from the Polish vanguard. Price range: €5-400 In this tiny Prenzlauer Berg shop, everything – down to the music on the radio – is in Polish. Owner Joanna Bednarska archives the development of Polish poster art from the last 50 years with understated originality. Her store specialises in original prints from Polish artists, with a huge selection ranging from movie posters designed by Lech Majewski (between €15 and €65) to Jan Lenica’s colourful designs (which can reach a staggering €400). It also includes a selection of Russian propaganda posters (€5-10) and Russian and Polish CDs.
