Since its inception in 1993, Atelierhaus Mengerzeile in Treptow has thrived outside of the Berlin studio programme, receiving citywide acclaim and welcoming artists from all over the world.
With its 40 studio spaces and its impressive M3 exhibition space, the former piano factory has stayed true to its calling of being a place to find fresh, artistic ‘Berlin flair’. Its birthday fete, packed full with exhibitions, open studios, music, food and more, will give the visitors a look behind the scenes of one of the city’s truest creative gems.
Doors open at 2pm; at 6pm the aptly titled ‘House Salon’ will open, featuring works from house artists as well as the release of a book documenting Mengerzeile’s fascinating history as a building, written by the project’s virtual motor Constanze Suhr.
Later the party will move to basement bar Amiga, celebrating the glory of an initiative that started with nothing, yet has truly overcome.
