He’s been a fixture of Berlin nightlife for more than 20 years, but it appears that with the opening of Elon Musk’s new Giga factory in Grünheide, one of the city’s most famous bouncers will be taking on a new role.

The unmistakable tattooed and bearded figure of Sven M has watched over the famous Berghain doors for almost 20 years but, according to new reports, this will shortly come to an end, as the bouncer and photographer has accepted an offer made personally by Tesla-CEO Elon Musk to join his staff at the Giga factory.

Sources close to Sven said that this is something which has long been on his mind. “He is a master at working the line, so in some ways it makes sense,” said Oskar V, a friend of Sven’s. “An assembly line operates according to very similar principles to the Berghain queue. You’re looking for defects, faulty equipment. Anything that is under prepared shouldn’t get past. He’s got a great eye for that. That’s why Elon has made him this offer.”

When asked for comment, a spokesperson for Tesla gave a more cryptic answer, seeming to hint at Berghain’s unofficial dress code. “Tesla vehicles will become the Model-T ford of the 21st Century. As Henry Ford famously remarked, a customer can have their car painted any colour they want, so long as it’s black.”

Elon Musk has previously hinted at establishing a Techno club underneath the factory in Grünheide, but whether this move has anything to do with that proposal is as yet unclear.
