Are masks finally coming to an end on public transport?

From February 2, Berliners (and Brandenburgers) may no longer have to wear masks on public transport according to a statement made this morning by the spokesman for the Brandenburg state government, Florian Engels.

The Senate is still recommending that citizens continue wearing a mask “where it makes sense and is appropriate”.

Though the change in policy isn’t yet official, it will be voted upon next week in Berlin’s senate and is expected to pass.

Berlin’s health administration confirmed Engels statement, their spokesperson saying “It is important that Berlin and Brandenburg agree on a joint date in the interest of the citizens of both federal states and above all in the interest of the users of the VBB.”
