‘Green’ tea

You may have already caught a glimpse of Løv Organic’s minimalist bird logo at various third-wave cafes around town. As of late November, the organic tea label has set up shop on Münzstraße. The French label is all-around bio for your cup.

You may have already caught a glimpse of Løv’s minimalist bird logo at various third-wave cafes around town. Now, as of late November, the organic tea label has set up shop in Berlin, more precisely on Münzstraße’s boutique row, a perfect home for its stylish, Scandinavian-inspired modern-yet-natural vibe (part of a real silver birch tree grows up through the shelves).

Only the presence of verbena tisane will clue you in that Løv is actually French, an eco-friendly little sister of the Russian-branded Kusmi label. Its bio credentials are all in order: reusable tins, cotton muslin tea bags that are unbleached as well as staple- and glue-free. Behind the pretty packaging and clever branding are intense, aromatic blends that might give serious tea drinkers pause: Peach-cassis? Green-rooibos-pineapple-mint?

But Mitte aesthetes can’t live on espresso alone, and a colourful tin of “Løv Is Beautiful” (a green-white blend) or “Lovely Night” (a calming combo of chamomile, cinnamon, rooibos and honeybush) would look great on any unfinished-wood kitchen shelf. Sample them at the shop’s tasting station, then take them home – or give them to your casual tea-drinking friends – in the form of loose tea (from €10.80/tin) or a box of 20 tea bags (€9.40).
