Are you an American craving a Baby Ruth or a Butterfinger, an Australian pining for a Tim Tam or a Swede missing real liquorice?

Say goodbye to international care packages that never arrive. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to Willy Wonka, Alexis Agne has opened Sugafari, an international sweet shop in Prenzlauer Berg to supplement his successful mail-order website.

With walls painted as bright as the candy and original 1970s beech panelling, the shop stocks 400 different types of candy, chocolate, drinks and snacks from 49 countries, including English Wagon Wheels (€0.59), French Carambars (€0.29) and GDR candy such as Mokka Bohnen (€1.49) and Ghokis (€1.49).

These childhood treats neighbour new and fascinating sweets such as Mexican Flycatcher lollipops (€0.99), Taiwanese Chin Hwa Cookies (€1.69), the humorously named Spunk Liquorice wine gums (€0.69) from Denmark and (sadly cannabis-free) Dutch Space Cookies (€0.99).

Those spoilt for choice can opt for one of 13 different shop-made goody bags. You’ll leave with fists full of treats and a sugar high that’ll keep you giddy for days.
