Outdoor yoga classes in Berlin parks? Yogotta be kidding me

Summer is back, and that means it's actually pleasant to be outside for once. Why not make the best of if by unrolling a yoga mat in one of Berlin's beautiful parks?

How about celebrating the long awaited return of Berlin’s true summer spirit and freedom with an al fresco mind and body workout? That’s exactly what the instructors of Yoga on the Move offer, with classes all over Berlin’s many parks – Hasenheide, Volkspark Friedrichshain, Volkspark Rehberge, Prinzessinnengarten Jacobi – and even on a rooftop in Neukölln.

Specialising in Vinyasa, the main goal is flow. The smooth transitions between poses keep your mind at ease, but expect to feel the body work the next day! Marlene Schmitt, who began by giving donation-based yoga classes on Tempelhofer Feld with her friend Leonie Fahjen, says they started Yoga on the Move to create a space where everyone feels welcome – so don’t feel bad if you can’t reach your toes!

You can drop in at the grassy location of your choice for €12 (there’s at least one class a day somewhere), which may be an excellent way to get started. If by the end of class you feel ready to commit, get an unlimited yoga membership for €59 per month. Alternatively, you can opt for a pass of 10 classes at €109, valid for six months. Never has inner peace felt so close within reach – if you don’t suffer from hay fever, that is.
