Greenpeace ‘crashes’ car into Pariser Platz
On Wednesday, environmental protection group Greenpeace created an eye-catching protest in front of Brandenburger Tor.
As a protest against Transport Minister Volker Wissing’s attitude toward e-fuels, the group installed a car crash (with the vehicle made to look like a Bundestag car, official sticker and all) on Berlin’s Pariser Platz – complete with smoke rising from the ‘crashed’ vehicle.
According to rbb, the action comes in the wake over dispute over Wissing’s wish to continue the production of cars with internal combustion engines, which is planned to halt across the EU from 2035. The originally planned EU vote on this had already been postponed due to additional demands from Germany. Wissing has had said that, as this time, Germany could not agree to this kind a blanket ban on combustion engines.
