Major train strikes throughout Berlin and Germany

Prepare for train cancellations and delays! On Friday, travellers and commuters across Germany are going to be affected as the railway and transport union EVG has announced another warning strike due to wage conflicts.

The BVG will run as usual, but brace yourself for possible overcrowding due to passenger spillover from the S-Bahn.

While delays and cancellations are only expected from 3am to 11am, the ripple effects of these disruptions are likely to impact local and regional railways, (including the Berlin S-Bahn) throughout the day. Deutsche Bahn long-distance trains are expected to run from 1pm, but according to a spokesperson from the railway company, travellers should expect patchy service for longer than that.

If you’re planning a weekend away by train tomorrow, remember — in addition to Deutsche Bahn — trains operated by Odeg, NEB and HANS in Berlin and Brandenburg could also be affected, as these private companies rely on Deutsche Bahn infrastructure.
