Entrecôte is possibly the last place on planet Berlin where the frites are really French.
This long corridor of a restaurant just around the corner from Checkpoint Charlie serves a traditional set menu for a very reasonable €15.50. We ate a tender grilled sirloin steak with a herb sauce, a green salad - and a portion of what must be the finest French fries in the city. The dessert (crème brûlée and a full-force chocolate mousse) is worth the extra expense.
Visiting vegetarians will not be disappointed by their set menu alternative, an adequate mix of vegetables covered in a rich Gruyère cheese sauce. The atmosphere makes for good conversation and the outdoor seating is pleasant.
