Focusing on the intertwining, paralleled histories of Europe and Africa since decolonisation, this exhibition explores the historiographical politics and the articulation of historical consciousness. Works from John Akomfrah, Kader Attia and Yervant Gianikian, among others, reflect on the period actor’s attempt to fundamentally transform the framework of the modern colonial era. The conference in support of the exhibition shines light on the matter, exploring the fundamental role of Africa and its omission in the European construction of world history.
Open daily, 10:00 to 19:00, runs through Nov 24.
