One hundred years ago, a group of three Russian artists – a painter, composer and poet – created a futuristic opera about immortals who take the Sun prisoner and send the world into a dark age. The independent Berlin opera company Novoflot has combined the surviving fragments of the original piece with new compositions to create a new “man-music-machine”. The sprawling performance is split into five parts at five venues: The Brain of the House (Hamburger Bahnhof), The Immaterial World (Akademie der Künste), The 35th Century (Volksbühne Pavillon), In the 10th Land (Radialsystem) and The First Pan-Russian Congress of the Singers of the Future (Volksbühne).
