American poet/musician Saul Williams (Slam) is the convincing protagonist of Alain Gomis’ Tey (Today), a powerful philosophical tale told with few words but memorable poignancy. The film follows Satché on the last day of his life as the (still) young man walks through the streets of his Senegalese hometown to make his goodbyes – to his family, his friends, his ex-lover, his children and wife. Watch for the final scene between Satché and his wife, a masterwork of understated intensity.
